Now that the weather is a bit nicer, I will be starting to walk to and from work. I need to build up to doing both ways, but I walked there today. It took me about 40 minutes because I had to stop and rest along the way, especially over the bridge because of the incline!

Here is the route. Once the ground dries up a bit, the route will be a bit shorter because once I'm over the bridge, I'll be able to walk behind the mall along the river instead of having to go around the mall.

Hey that is really cool! I wish I could ride my bike to work but there are no really safe routes currently. Walking is some of the best exercise out there! Congrats!

Congrats on walking!
I work 25 miles away from home (one way) so its not feasible for me, but if I were closer I'd love to walk.

Congrats

I wish I lived closer to work so I could walk or bike. Though, it'd probably still be dangerous crossing streets...seems to be alot of crazy drivers around here, especially rushing to work in the morning.

I've been riding to work for years. Acutally, riding everywhere as I got rid of my car about two years ago. People seem to think I'm brave or crazy, but it isn't that bad. You just have to be aware.

Automobile drivers aren't going to deliberately run into you. It would ruin their paint job and make for a lot of insurance paperwork.

Well, in Texas with roads that are straight as a string and have a 10 foot wide shoulder, I'd think nothing of it. In Tennessee (and I suspect WV) the roads are twisty, hilly, and in many cases have no shoulder whatsoever, so I think bike riders take their life into their own hands. We have a nice setup at work where people can park outside the gate and bike in. It's about 7 miles each way and the road has a decent shoulder the whole way. I wouldn't mind doing that from time to time, but other than that and around my home neighborhood, I'd be too chicken.

I have no choice but to drive to my place of work, it's just too far for me otherwise.

I get the exercise I need by answering the resident's bells and running up and down the stairs for the 12 hours I'm there.

Now just increase the amount of water you drink and you will NOT believe the difference in how you feel (and look) in a couple of months! You GO girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
