So the Squeakster has started to chew on wood
She's left a vampire bite in the corner of my desk and this morning, left took a chunk out of the corner of the coffee table. Is there a reason why she does this? And anything I can do to prevent the behavior? A special kind of treat or something? She normally eats hard food, with canned 3 times a week.

Smear bitter apple spray or something on every piece of wood in the apartment?

I use something called bitter yuck...It is all natural and the cats HATE the taste of it! I sprayed it on everything I don't want them to chew on.I got it at Petsmart.

We've been having very good luck with Bitter Apple spray on cords. I spray it onto a cotton ball, then smear it on the cords.

I'm not sure why some cats will chew on wood.
Nabu and Raven
left teethmarks on our pine futon when they were young and on our wood coffee table. They also chewed up a hideous orange leather office chair DH had at the time. I think they did me a favor on that.

It can also be called bitter orange. I'm not sure why they do it, my boyfriends dogs like to chew on wood too.
