Looks like your little one is about 2 days older than my litter
My little ones mama was stray/feral at a friends feral colony and about to pop when I trapped her.

Your stories are making me giggle as mine are doing the same thing. 2 of my little ones started wrestling tonight for the first time which was cute - they were kind of rolling around each other with gums and claws flailing everywhere

You're doing a fantastic job, and I can't imagine you'll be giving him up - you've been through too much with him already to not be attached.

Hi Dan,

I just wanted to commend you for your thoroughness in raising this baby. It is a tough job and he is still so young, you need to remain vigilant. You can add more water to the formula to help with the stool, but often these wee ones are born with parasites and that can also be a problem. You can't do much about the worms at this stage, but once he is bigger and stronger, call your vet and schedule an appoinment to get him checked out.

You can also wrap him up in a warm towel while feeding this helps them to relax and you can gently massage the belly before and after feeding. One trick I use quite often is to put the bum into a stream of warm water and just massage around the rectum.

Good luck with Logan and I won't even mention how many times I have gotten the sexing wrong on newborn kittens.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm off to bed after his last feeding for the night. He's gone about 6.5 hours before needing more food which suits my sleep time just fine.

It's funny you mention rubbing his belly. He seems to be teaching me that on his own. He loves his belly rubbed.

The claw thing was one of the reasons I thought Logan would be appropriate. That and invincibility. No, I"m not a 21 year old geek, more than double that. We'll just continue to try to call him He instead of She. Which is tough to do...

Well it sounds like he's setteled in for the night, so I'm off to bed,
Thanks All for leading me through this. I knew there would be a group of people out there that cared about this unknown orphan as much as I did. I'm just glad I found you.

Thanks so much,
Dan and Tiger, or Logan, or Sassy, or whatever...

Dan - you don't have to be a 21 year old geek to like the X-Men!

And whatever you end up naming this darling little bundle, you and for family are angels for giving him a chance at life!

Another update... 4 weeks old on Friday. 9.25oz weight.

He's doing well. The poopers are coming few and far between. I went a bought some Pet Authority liquid vitamins. Hopefully it will help regulate him a bit.

Eating and sleeping well.
Hears most noises, but probably muffled.
He can't see much past 1 or two feet maybe less.
Gets shocked sometimes when you touch him.
Gets real aggressive when eating, but otherwise is pretty calm.

I had a cat friend come by and take a look at him. She thought he was doing well. Nothing obviously wrong.
Anyways, that's where we are at.

This site has been a real help. I found a few others that offer this type of advice. I check back regularly as time passes to see how things need to evolve.
Thanks A Bunch!

Are all cats spastic?

He goes nuts clawing and biting whenever he eats util he gets the milk flowing, then he just tries to suck it all down as fast as he can.

When it's gone he goes back to spastic cat again. If he's had enough, I just set him on the floor and he immediatly calms down. He does his Jeckle and Hyde thing and becomes as calm as those cute kittens you see in all the ads.

Part of the problem seems to be his poor sight. It calms him and slows him way down.

Is this just a kitten thing or are we looking at sight problems down the road as well.

I agree with Arlyn - frantic is a normal state of affairs for a kitten. I had one bottle baby I was feeding at our rescue... who was clawing at the milk bottle so frantically that she actually unscrewed the cap and the milk dumped all over me!!!

Well that's good, at least I don't have a nut case...

At 4 weeks, he's 10.5 oz and eating and pooping well on his own. That's a relief (so to speak).

My biggest concern now is his sight. It doesn't seem to be getting any better. I wonder at times if he can see at all.

My other concern is loneliness. He seems lost quite a bit. If he were able to see, I'm sure he would be all over exploring.

His latest thing is to sit on my lap and suck on my hand until he falls asleep, or my hand falls off.

I'll see if I can get some pictures, it's real hard with my cheep camera to get any photos that aren't blury. Maybe I'll just get some video.

Thanks,
Dan

If his vision doesn't get any better by six weeks, it's time to talk to the vet about it.
6 weeks is also when the first round of kitten vax are normally given, along with the first wellness check.

Awwww! The hand or finger suckling is a comfort thing - like a pacifier - but it's not a real good habit for baby Logan (yes?) to get into. Look into getting him a kitten pacifier. Or let him suckle and chew on the bottle. He might end up suckling his own paw, too.

You can get him a cuddle buddy - a beanie baby about his size to snuggle with... or a mom cat sized stuffed animal....

You know, he may have vision issues... I am trying to remember... was he abandoned? Mom cat may have sensed something was wrong...

We'll get him into the vet in a couple weeks.

His whole litter was abandoned. He was the only one that made it. He was only a day or so old when we found him.

I have a couple extra bottle nipples that I was thinking may be made into something. I just don't want to give him something he could choke on.

he's had a stuffed bear for a few weeks now. I tried the clock thing but ours are too quiet. I'll have to check out the stores and see what I can find.

It's so good to hear that he's progressing well but for me with 5 almost 5 week olds 10 ounces seems moons ago. Mine are well over a pound--they won't sit still to let me weigh them anymore.

4.5 week update:
13.5 oz (after eating)
He seems to be able to see a bit better. His eyes look better.
Hearing is excellent, (too good). He walks pretty good, climbs well if heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s not afraid. Weâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]re trying to get him to start drinking out of a lid and to move on to soft food.
Here are some picts.

Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m sure we all have cute photos, here is Tigers. He is sleeping upside down under the bear. We donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t know how he got in that position or why he stayed there, but he could have easily gotten free if he wanted to.
