I don't believe it's any kind of distraction at all.
It's simply the media being the media.
I can't believe how some of these "anchors" on the morning programs are salivating over "reporting" this.....Matt Lauer and the Today
show group in particular.
Yesterday, their resident doctor, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, (who I respect immensely) was sitting there, basically making supreme sense, saying this flu is following the usual patterns of a new flu strain. The difference is, that, with information being available 24/7, people are watching in real time as the health industry tracks it down and handles it. And they're not understanding that the usual seasonal flu is probably still more dangerous.
She also said that the countries most in danger are the under developed countries where medicines and research are not available. And she also said people get very excited when they heard the word "pandemic". She came thisclose to using the word "panic", but didn't.
She stressed that the cases in the U.S. were mild so far. She was pretty much trying to calm everyone down.
Then the camera switched to Matt Lauer. He's sitting on the edge of his seat, his eyes are all gleaming.....asking questions to sort of ratchet it up. It was disgusting. He was practically panting.
This is a media-induced panic. I prefer to keep my head about me and not panic.
The media is ridiculous.
And Joe Biden makes me giggle. I really do like him, but when he was being interviewed yesterday, I went like this ---->
, thinking, "Oh, my. What kind of spin are we going to hear from this?"
