___I don't know if any of you guys remember me, but back in October I joined the site because I'd taken in a stray. She was about ten weeks old at the time. We took her to the vet, got her shots, and found out she was 100% Siamese. We named her Trixie. I stopped posting here after a few months, so I doubt any of you all remember me.
Anyways, about a week ago Trixie got off heat. I'm not sure that's how you phrase it, but you know what I mean. Well, we hadn't gotten her fixed and she hadn't been with a male cat, so when she started acting strange we thought she was depressed. All of the symptoms were there, so we didn't think much of it until a few days ago. She stayed crouched in the floor and on my bed all day, she didn't use her litter box, her tongue was pale, and she was tired all the time. I finally convinced my mom to take her to the vet Saturday morning.
I wasn't thinking anything too horrible would happen. They'd give her a shot, give us some medicine, and she'd be up and at 'em in a few days. I was at my dad's so my mom texted me the entire trip they were there since Trixie was my cat. The news was worse than we thought. Trixie had Feline Leukemia. The vet said it was something she'd been born with and that even if we had caught it sooner there wouldn't have been any hope. "She was practically dead." We had to put her down.
I just wanted to make a note to warn people: get your kittens tested! The loss of a pet if often underestimated. You don't realize just how much you care about them until they're gone.
