Now that spring has arrived, we have a few bugs hanging out on the patio door every day, which means that the kitties have a new passtime...jumping party!

Max is especially obsessed with catching the bugs on the other side of the glass or screen, and it is quite entertaining just to sit and watch him jump straight up several feet in the air from a seated position. However, the funniest thing is that he doesn't seem to comprehend that when the door is closed the bugs on the other side of the glass couldn't care less about him! Since they don't move, Max will just keep jumping over and over again, trying to knock down a bug that he can't even touch or smell! One day he got so focussed one bug that he didn't look where he was jumping and landed right on a rubber dog toy...he hardly even touched the ground before he was back in the air again because it surprised him so much!

Jumping party - that's what my cats have when the dog wants to play with them. They jump up to avoid him.

They sure are fun to watch playing with bugs. It's june bug season here and we get tons of them especially at the back door with the outdoor light on.
If I leave the door open, any june bugs stuck to the screen, Maggie slaps them back off. It's funny to watch!

Bugs are great entertainment for the kitties! I have to be careful about my plants on the windowsill now because bugs are starting to come inside and that's the best place to catch them.
I could do without the loud chewing when they catch one though.
