Last night I took a wonderful cat named Bandit to his new home. When Bandit came to the shelter he had a badly infected bite wound. He came in on a Saturday. It was closed & went unnoticed till I found it Sunday. He had been lethargic all day on Sunday, then later in the day I found out why. He had a huge infection. Well I did some basic care & then took him to the emergancy vet. He was wonderful through all of it. All the fluids & the poking & proding. He was a good boy! He is such a sweet cat & I felt that instant connection with him. There is something about a cat that needs help that tugs at my heart. The E-vet stabalized him so that he could make it to our vet the next day. The next day he had the infection opened up & a drain added. I have never seen such a long drain. The infection had gotten very deep into his leg. He was still touch and go. I'll never forget the day I came in to see him sitting up in his cage alert & happy. I knew that day he was going to be OK. I wanted so badly to take him home. There was a special bond between the two of us, but I knew that with 4 cats in a 1 bedroom another cat was the last thing I needed. So when I heard he was adopted I was sad, but happy for him. Then I was asked if I wanted to do his adoption. All I could think was, yes because if the person isn't perfect for him I can make sure he doesn't end up in that home. Well, his new Meomy is wonderful & takes very good care of the cat she already has. I know he will be loved and get more attention than I can give him. It was a very had thing to do and I shed a few tears when I got in my car. I know I did the right thing, but it sure was hard! I will always have a special place in my heart
for Bandit, but I know his cage will be filled with another wonderful cat who needs our help.
Good luck Bandit & have a good long, happy life!
