HELP!! Need urgent advice-have cockleburs in my hair!!

EEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!

A customer I was working at today well she had cockleburr plants standing from last fall and I must have bent over to close to them and I have several stuck in my hair. Real close to my scalp!

I have a call in to my hair stylist but not sure when he will call.

I'm trying to break up and tease out but lots of hair coming with this method.

Wet hair and use conditioner???

Any advice welcome!!

Heres a link to them that says you should cut them out I would leave them until your call comes through because they say it makes them worse if you try to get them out

ohhhh, thx to the link. I've gotten attacked by those out at the farm, usually on my clothes but a few in my hair... all I did was gently pull them out (they were at the end of my hair)....

I was thinking conditioner as well. But I have no experience. What a situation!

Maybe some baby oil on a comb would work.....

No baby oil I think I'm gonna try olive oil!! The burrs are broken now just a big rats nest!!

Well over 4 hours later and they are all out!!

Do not try using conditioner or in my case olive oil! I pulled out more hair that way.
Neil broke them apart and I worked on then with a comb except of the spot I tried the above ingredients.

*note to self-wear a hat when gardening near this plants!!*

I am glad you finally got them out - sounds like a good lesson learned

I wish I had seen this earlier. My long haired dog Spike is a cocklebur magnet and in the height of summer, we pick them out of his hair almost daily. You did it right - break them apart and pull them out in small pieces. I use a grooming comb to get the fine pieces out. If you get them wet the hair seems to bind to them tighter.

I'm glad you got them out anyway!!

I was going to suggest letting them dry out and then breaking them apart.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I'm glad to see you got them all out! You poor thing What an ordeal lol!!

When I used to work for animal control, we'd get the occassional dog in with severe mats and those nasty little things mixed in. Normally I'd just cut the mat out (sometimes they were really bad though). Glad you didn't have to cut your hair up!!!
