You know what's annoying?

When someone asks me if my sweetheart was named after the Twilight Bella.

Ummmm... no? If I try and defend myself I sound dumb. But really. I had Bella a long time before I even knew of Twilight.

Speaking of, my plans were to name my first-born daughter "Arabella" and call her "Bella." Most of you probably know that Bella is Italian for beautiful.

I just wish people would see past it. Or ask differently. "Why Bella?" Instead of condescending and accusingly asking, "Bella after Twilight?"

My friend has a pit bull named Bella and she gets the same thing. Now mind her Bella is ten years old...not sure of people's logic behind that one. I love the name Bella. My ex-boyfriend and my's (how do you like that contraction,
) Great Dane's registered name was Bella Stella Lucille (we called her Stella). Even though I am a closet Twilight dork, I can definitely see how that would be incredibly annoying. All they need to do is look at your Bella and see where her name came from,
.

BTW, I can't really tell from her pics, but does she have a very tiny chin? I ask this because we have a clinic cat named Banana (all black like your baby) with almost no chin and your baby looks very similar in her pics!

Awww hahaha thanks for that compliment (on Bella's behalf, of course!). I do like Twilight but.. just no! lol

I'm not sure about her chin, lol. I've never really examined cat chins to determine whether they're big or small. I do know her face is shaped a little different than most; my brother's cat Dash has more of a long face and now that I think about it, a bit more prominent chin. So maybe! Maybe that's why I always worry if her head is too small for her body.... rofl

I don't know. It's just something about it. Especially the right picture on your siggy. It just looks incredibly rounded...yet pointy. Sorry! I'll stop analyzing your cat's chin,
.

I haven't read or seen Twilight so it would never occure to be to ask that. Plus, Bella is a popular name for both kids and pets and has been for some time. I think the name is fitting... of course, I'm biased toward black cats anyway.

Ugh, I can totally understand how that's irritating...

You should tell them, "yea...She is, actually. And I also have a dog who loves to eat cats named Edward."

Or perhaps say..., "No, I just really love mushrooms."

hehe, sorry, I crack myself up. :p

Thanks
Black cats do rule! And if you can avoid Twilight, do so. It's like a bad addiction that makes no sense.

Ha! Mushrooms, that's a good one!

I can see how that would be annoying, but I guess it's just because Twilight's all the rage right now so it's on lots of people's minds? (i haven't read or seen any of that stuff but at least have heard of it..) I bet people who have pets named Hannah get the Hannah Montana reference a lot too... hehe.

When I tell people my cat's name is Genever, they think I'm saying Jennifer, so I have started to always just say "Her name is Genever. G-E-N-E-V-E-R." Then try to explain about the gin-like liquor that comes in lots of flavors in Belgium/Netherlands that is called Genever/Jenever, usually pronounced JuhNEEver but i think Genever is prettier for a name." etc etc.

Yeah, i love that mushroom explanation.. haha

I confess that I've seen literary allusions to cats names on here and asked if they carried the same theme to their other pets.

For example, someone has a cat named "Dorabella", and I asked if she had another called "Fiordeligi." (Those were the names of the two female leads in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte.")

Another had a cat called "Caspian." I asked if the others were Edmund, Lucy, Susan, and Peter. ("Chronicles of Narnia.)

I was a Humanities major; I think in terms of literary allusions.

I can understand that, and that is reasonable. I'm a Classics major. If someone said their female dog's name was Medea, I'd ask if their male dog was Jason. I guess I'm just annoyed with all the hype of Twilight right now. I love the show Xena, but I didn't name Bella after her. What gets to me the most is how condescending people are when they ask it (at least most of them). "After the Twilight Bella?" Like, "After one of those raging obsessive lunatic fans?" Like no one's had an obsession before. Like she wouldn't be worthy if she WAS named after that Bella. Pffffft.

I will be glad when Twilight's on the back burner. I enjoy the series, but wow...

I'm with you- black cats rule!

I have a Mr. Mistoflees who USED to be black from his ears to the tip of his tail. He has since gotten white furs on him- don't know if it's age or just coloring (he's 17 years old).

Bella has been popular. Would never think to ask someone if the animal was named after one of the Twilight charactors (my kids like the series)

If we ever have to get another kitty- I want to name it Aslan. The kids say we should name it after one of the cats in the Warriors series. But, we don't have to think about that for a while.

Yes I can understand the questions over name of said cat, I suppose it's simply because Twilight as stated before, is all the current phase of the month. I once had a cat I named after an anime series and simply never heard the end of it. Understandable really
nothin to worry about..fads will go on and Bella will still be your Bella

ps: she's a very cute cat ^_^

Ah, Twilight.

How I've grown to fear thee.

It seems that everything these days is related to that. I can completely understand how that would get annoying [people ask me all the time if my kitten Miloh is named after Milo from Milo and Otis. grr.].

Oh well, this too shall pass, and your Bella will still be your Bella. <3 :3
