excuse my ashy feet please, they are filled with kitty scratches....

-----------------------------
as a wedding gift [married 4/6/09 and birthday gift 4/12] I was granted a kitty. I made the point that two kittens equaled 1 cat and was granted my wish

Anyway, getting over my fear of males and spraying and believing the hype about their affectionate ways, I think of my own, ahem, females, so I wanted a black male kitten. Then I thought despite the other cats, a kitten needs a like playmate. I wanted a kitten 8-10 weeks old.

First mistake, I found an ad where a lady had 15 kittens, some not ready, but this litter was 'ready to go'. So we drive 40 miles to the destination only to realize her idea of 'ready to go' was 6 weeks. My hubby
[new word]
knew they were too small, so did I, but this lady was ready to leave/move, I forget and needed homes right away.

So I took them home. It was challenging but not as bad as I expected. I can't wait until they are older. They are adorable, but they needed their mommy. Thank goodness after a couple of days they stopped crying incessantly and are now cooing happily. They even pooped in the litter box this morning, they were already tinkling in it. Saturday little tootsie rolls wound up on the other side of the bed, but now it's all good. They are doing well, but I need to cut them a break and put another litterbox on the opposite side of the room, as well.

I am afraid one is even younger than six weeks
as he shook with tremors when first eating and I read that happens at 4 weeks. Thankfully they are now safe and have each other to learn from. the other kitties are at best, tolerant, so we are good to go...

next up: shots and deworming...

They're adorable! I'm glad you went ahead and got two. They only thing better then one kitten is two!! Sounds like you took them from a not so great situation. Good for you and your new hubby! Hope everything keeps going well and the little ones grow into healthy and happy kitties.

After starting this thread in all innocence, it can be deleted if necessary.

With kitten season approaching, in no way, do I mean to add to the problem by getting kittens from craigslist. These three 5 year old cats, with their 15 kittens, should've been spayed, but instead of saying anything, I went home, looked at the little ones and fretted with hubby over how pitiful the whole thing was.

I should've said/done something. So now I have two kittens who will get neutered, but I didn't save a life...

I don't know how I feel about this thread anymore. I apologize to all the members who make a difference. and yes these kittens are cute, but I didn't open my mouth and tell the lady the benefits of spaying her cats. How many other cute kittens will get born this year, but die in a shelter?, and it is only april.

I will email her now.

I apologize for ruining the thread, another section really got me to thinking.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Don't apologize. You are saving two little lives. Who knows WHO would have taken these two and what kind of home they would have gone into or worse yet at their tender ages and tiny sizes, used for evil purposes ( and yes, it does happen). Good for you to email this woman. She is basically making money off her cats. But she is not likely to stop. So, look forward not back and do the best that you can. Also - bless you for taking BLACK kittens. Black animals - big dogs, adult cats and kittens - are the hardest to place. I personally don't get it. Most all the black cats I have known personally or through rescue have been wonderful kitties.

Thanks,
I also praise you for adopting two very young kittens, you not only saved 2 kittens lives, but are giving them a happy, healthy home. I admit I misread the thread and didn't realize the situation of the kittens where you adopted them from. If she hadn't posted kittens on Craigslist, she wouldn't find homes for them, hopefully all as good as yours. Don't beat yourself up for not approaching her about this, but think of it as know you know.....
As far as Craigslist, I wouldn't have found my little angel, Maia, if not for.....I just prey that those taking in new kittens, puppies, pets, are just as willing to love/care for them as the owners are willing to give them away......

Thank you, Enlightenment Is a great thing. I hadn't spent time in the stray/feral threads for a while, and then I just had to see the spca commercial with sarah mclau______ [spelling] while reading the topics, and I just felt really weird for looking at craigslist, after all of that.

I am thankful for my kitties And moreso, for telling the lady I got the kittens from the info about SPCA's spay programs.

I love All the informative Topics Of each kitty Section
It gives you information and a conscience, which should never make you feel bad, but always make you want to educate the next person, just like you were educated.

Some people don't know the plight of kitties, about food, etc...I am way off topic...

Thanks for giving me such nice compliments on Nigel and Pharaoh

You did a good thing in saving these two. Who knows where they might have ended up if you hadn't taken them?

In addition--they are the cutest things ever. Look how adorable and precious they are. They are absolute dolls.

on all counts.

Good on you for trying to educate her. And really good on you for taking these little angels out of a bad situation into a really good home.

My gosh, they really are the most precious thing ever!
