I know cats don't think like people and that is why I am of a particularly forgiving nature when it comes to Daisy. She is the poster child for bad behavior. She bites, scratches, shreds, and digs thru the trash, and jumps on the countertops. When I tell her "no" she looks at me and knows what it means. She'll not jump on the counter if I say no. However, she will still bite no matter what I say. I just finished reading the thread on Poppy, the teething kitty, and was wondering if she could still be teething at a little over a year old? The scratching and biting are the worst problems. She dives at my feet whenever I walk around in socks and starts trying to drag me down. I told DH she reminded me of a crocodile doing one of those death rolls. DH blows on her face and she stops biting him; I blow on her face and she hooks a claw in my nose. Is there any hope for better behavior? Speck and Siamie look at her like she's absolutely crazy, and I think they may be right. Did I mention that she is vindictive? If I scold her, she gets mad, and I can see the little wheels turning...she's almost too smart for her own good.

Hmm, that's tough if it seems you've got a smartass kitty. All I can add is that my Genever is 1.5 years old and still chews/bites like she's a teething kitten. The blowing in the face stops her though if nothing else does. She jumps on the table ALL THE TIME too and rarely gets off when i yell no, only when i grab her and put her on the floor. Grr. For the biting though, I'm now a firm believer in straws, and my new found dog chew toy bone covered in tennis ball material!

Since G-cat is still a bit bitey, I'm very interested in anything others find that work to get cats to stop with the teeth...

Yeah, that's exactly right! When I scold she gives me this look that says "I'll get you...when you least expect it." And I hate to raise my voice to her because I don't want her to be scared. I really want her to feel safe and comfortable here. But she's a rough one. If I say her name, she starts switchng her tail. I say "Daisy, do you not like your name? I think it's pretty." Or maybe it's me she doesn't like, lol. She takes Speck's little quilt off the sofa and shakes it around like she's trying to kill it. Then she holds it down and tries to tear it to pieces. She is just doing that because she knows it's his. We have quilts on the beds and she doesn't mess with them. I just keep hoping for improvement with maturity...

W/ the best cats
It's more likely due to boredom. Do you have enough toys? Cats between 1 and 3 years old are in their adolescent years and you know what that means. They're rebellious and will push you around if they know they can get away with it.
Besides the blowing on the face, try hissing.

I was wondering if she could be bored. She was a stray who had to totally fend for herself before being sent to the pound and now she is an indoor kitty with a life of luxury. She has plenty of toys, though, and Speck for company. Speck was so happy when she first got here but she has kicked his butt so many times that he wants little to do with her now. I was worried she'd feel trapped in the house, but she never tries to run out, so I guess she's o.k. with being an indoor cat. The only difference in her life lately is that Speck has started defending himself.
