Who's Emily's mommy, me or my little man Bailey?

I was sitting threre this morning and I hear this "chirping" sound coming from somewhere....turned out to be a sucking sound....I turned the TV off and listened......couldn't figure out what it was, so I got up and looked around and found Emily actually trying to "nurse" from Bailey, and Bailey loving every minute of it, letting his little sister suckle while he bathed her head.......what's going on here? Who's the mommy? Me or Bailey???

He really has done a wonderful job taking over the mother role.....You've never seen such a clean butt in all your life!

He just loves her to death.....

Oh my gosh, that is just too darned sweet.

She must have been taken away from her momma too soon, poor cutie-pie. What a good big brother her Bailey is being, taking such good care of her like that!!!

I think you're seeing a repeat of what I saw with Maxwell and Baby Bonnie - all except for the nursing part.

Aw, Bailey's taking such good care of his little sister. Those are the sweetest, cutest pictures ever. I seem to remember this with other male cats on this site--maybe someone else remembers, too?

At any rate, it's easy to see that Miss Emily is well-loved by all in her new family. That warms my heart.

LOL, I agree, but to nurse off of??? Gee, I wonder if boy kitties can produce milk??

To Emily a nipple is a nipple and it like a pacifier. I had a male dog who nurtured kittens like this.

I could use Bailey to work on Topaz's butt since she has trouble reaching it...

Yes they can and it happened to me one time. Bogart (about 6 weeks) was a "free to good home" baby in a petsmart parking lot. We got him home and we found Boris (about 5 weeks) in our ditch a week later. Max (male about 2 years old at the time) decided to mother both of them and let them nurse off of him. In a few weeks, he actually started lactating. I asked my vet if there was any nutrition in it and he didn't know. That was the most bizarre thing to see a male cat with swollen nipples that would leak if you touched them.

And Max was our alpha male.

You'll have to tell us if Bailey does the same thing. They are both adorable btw!

Aww! How sweet! I had two cats when I was a kid. Taz was the younger boy and he used to try and nurse our older male cat all the time. It was so funny!
