I made a personal choice to have children immediately and when I was young. I'm still young, I still have fun. Children are FUN. I enjoy my life. From the way many posters in this thread make it sound, I must lead a very sad existence. I love my son and would never have things any differently. Why can't we respect their choice?

If you were that kid, your aunt or uncle would be your same age, or you will be older than some of them possibly.
My aunts and uncles are all so much older than me.

Would I do the same? No... For my life, my choice was different, and I don't believe in saving yourself for marriage... But they do, and who are we to judge?
These kids are happy, balanced, love and respect their families, and their family love them back dearly. This family, is, by the way, much more balanced than many in our so-called "normal" society. In our "normal" society of divorced families, overworked parents that leave their children upbringing to their babysitters... Families buried in debt...
Why are people judging this family? Because their way to live is "different"? So what? Where is our tolerance to people's beliefs? They have no debt (and BTW, didn't have it before the show either), are not on welfare, and have done harm to no one. What is the bother? Why can't they just be?
They are happy, and I guarantee you those kids are not the ones anyone should worry about it. I guarantee you they are not going to be the kids who will carry drugs or guns to the schools to harm their fellow students.
I am happy for them, and I think they did an outstanding job raising well rounded and healthy kids who will do some great things to society. I really don't see how we could possibly dare to judge them.
Very well said. It's not a life style that I would choose for myself. It's their choice and it seems to be working well for them. They are not burdening tax payers with their choice and their children seem to be happy and healthy, which is what we all want for our children.

They chose to be on TV, so I'm not allowed to judge them? If they don't want to be judged, maybe they shouldn't be on TV.

ETA: MSNBC says, "After a period of supervised courtship, in which they were allowed to hold hands but not to kiss, the couple decided to get married." So.. I don't know. I think that's a little odd, but I think they have a good family. The kids seem really nice.

What does them being on TV have anything to do with you or other people judging them? They are the same family they were before they went on a regular tv show, and there are many other families out there that have just as big of families and they aren't looked down on like this family. Also, if I recall Carolina said nothing in regards to them being on tv.

I know a lot of people, even with small families, that have aunts/uncles that are similar age as they are. My mom's aunt is only 4 years older than she is.

She was talking about judging, so I quoted her and replied about judging. I know they're the same family they were before they were on tv. I've noticed that the Gosselins have had a lot of negative things said about them on the internet too - there's blogs dedicated to that.

To be quite honest, I didn't even know about them until they had a tv show. That is how I learned about them.

I still feel sorry for the other childen in this family, it just seems like they are never given the chance to be children. They do the housework, the cooking, and take care of their younger siblings. The mom takes care of the new baby. At least that is what I see whenever I watch the show. But I don't watch it a whole lot, because it just upsets me.

Same here. They have the Jon & Kate Plus 8, Table for 12, Octo-mom is going to have a TV show, this 18+ kid family has a show
Lets all reward them for being baby machines with their "15 minutes of fame".

Seriously, why parade yourself on reality TV if you don't want the attention, and all that comes with it such as discussions like this.

I don't know much of anything about this family besides what I read here. I don't watch any of those multiple-kid shows. Kids annoy me anyway, I can't imagine enjoying a show with many, many, many kids!

From what I know about this family, though, they are nothing like that octo-mom woman. They live by their beliefs and faith, and whether I agree with their beliefs or not is really immaterial. They aren't hurting anyone. The children aren't unhealthy physically or mentally, though we can look at them through the windows and make all kinds of judgements. They can support all of the children!!! That's the biggest thing for me - live life however you want, have as many children as you want and can support but don't keep having more on the welfare system (or lawsuits, or student loans, or handouts, or by just not paying the bills).

As long as their children also work to be able to support a large family (physically, financially, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, etc.), if that's what they want. Do whatever makes you happy.
