Anyone ever made beer bread from scratch? I want to make some for the Beau but wanted to know if anyone has made it and what recipe you used?
I am looking at this recipe right now but it seems to easy!
* 1 - 12 oz can of beer
* 2 - cups self-rising flour
* 3 - tablespoons sugar

Mix lightly and pour into greased loaf pan. bake @ 375 F (metal pan) or 350 F (glass pan) for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and drizzle with melted butter.

It really is that easy! I don't remember there being that much sugar though, but I could be wrong. I only made it once and I added olives and cheese. I think it would have been better though if I made it plain first. The extra ingredients made it a little too salty (and I'm a salt-a-holic). IMO, it is good and kinda fun, since it's so easy, but I find it a little dry, so don't skimp on the drizzle of butter.

okay it just came out of the oven. I am a sucker for fresh baked bread but if the Beau doesnt get home soon he isnt going to have any bread left! This is really good! The bottom came out a little hard though, any ideas how to fix that for next time? But its still yummy!

Just as a hint, instead of regular beer, use Shiner Bock. Very tasty bread! That's what the Saltgrass Steakhouses use in theirs.

I used Yuengling Lager mostly because its one of the few beers I can stand the taste of! LOL!
