My Easter surprise...lol.
Welcoming a new addition:

He's so lovable, he wouldn't stop getting up into my lap and face so that I could take pictures, lol.
No name for him, yet! Suggestions welcome!

Great gift! What's his story?

Boy there was no question my mind from first glance at the first pic ... the this was a male cat. So maybe something really masculine, like Rex, which also means king.

You already have one kitty named after an Egyptian god, what about another or an Egyptian king? Ramses, Ra (Sun god)...

BAKARI: Egyptian name meaning "noble oath."
HERU: Variant spelling of Egyptian Haru, meaning "falcon." In mythology, this is the name of the son of Isis, a falcon-headed god of the sky.
OMARI: Egyptian name meaning "high born."
SEKANI: Egyptian name meaning "laughs."
ZUBERI: African Swahili and Egyptian name meaning "strong."

Jaguar - since he's a big black cat.

The name "Henry" also popped into my head.

Matthew - means gift of God and since he was an Easter gift??????

names meaning black...

KALI - Indian/Hindi male name

Kieran - Irish/Gaelic

Blake - English version ... meaning black.

Duff - Irish

Kuro - Japanese

I like Java or Espresso, too.

And Raven.

He's my gift to myself, lol.

I was told by a friend about a black cat who needed a home. This family had a few cats they were taking care of that were outside cats living around their house and so I called and asked if I could take/adopt one. The family already has multiple cats and this guy was one of a couple kittens they found when the first arrived at their house. He is not neutered yet, but that's soon to be taken care of,
.

I like 'Ra' for him...Good, short, meaningful name...Or maybe some kind of mayan, jaguar related name?

Now that I think about it, I don't think Jags are black. If they are, they are very, very rare.

I believe they are alternatively called 'panthers.'
They are rare, but they do exsist!
And they are very beautiful.

PS:

Looks just like him, (haha, kinda), with golden eyes!

Actually, black jaguars are fairly common, since the black coloring is a dominant gene.

They Mayan rulers incorporated the word for "jaguar" in many of their names. Their word for the animal was "b'alam."

Gorgeous boy. I, too, knew he was male the minute I saw him. I have two black boy cats as well. Shadow and Raven. I like Ra.

P.S. In the last pic, he looks like a panther. Love it.

I read a story one time in Cat Fancy and it was about how hard it is to adopt out black cats, when this one shelter started naming the black cats Jellybean they were always adopted right away

It's not particularly meaningful in the 'deep' sense, but I second 'Studdles'!
But I think he'd agree he's a total stud.. a real heart breaker!
