This dog came in day before yesterday to have his leg evaluated. He's from a rescue group the clinic works at that is known for amputating dog's legs to make them more adoptable even if the animal can heal on it's on/will be pain free with a limp. I took to him immediatley he's so cute and goofy. They have been calling him "Thor" but I need new name ideas for if I do keep him. [Was potentially thinking Duke but it's a big cliche/common for this type of dog.] He doesn't really go by any name at this point. He's really chill, LiLo likes him, napolean likes him[but he's afraid of Napolean haha]. He's just a chill laid back guy. I don't need 3 dogs... but it's so temping because he's so chill!

Any name ideas are appreciated!
The rescue called him a boxer mix. The vet called him a pit mix. The foster called him a lab mix. I think he has some mastiff/st bernard. Something with a wide face. He went over to my friends house and she has a Pit Bull and side by side he doesn't look like a pit mix, but alone he does.

He's a beauty!

I'm horrible with dog names and have to admit that most of mine in my life were named by friends or family members who took a look at them, came up with an idea and it just stuck.

If he's a chill dog, then the manly names like Thor don't really fit him, but he's strong enough looking that foo foo names wouldn't work either. When in doubt, I fall back on names of my favorite musicians who's music reminds me of their personality. When I hear "chill", I think Bob Marley.

We adopted our third dog last year. It did become a little more complicated, but I love my dogs as much as I love my cats (and I have 10 of those).

His face looks like he could have some Great Dane in him.

I'm terrible with names! But I like "word" names best, like Rumble or Crash.

Thanks for the input!

Here's a few more pictures. I guess I should say he isn't like "cool and calm" more like "goofy and calm". Because I have had people tell me he looks like he's a pit mix I want to stay away from names like 'Thor' only because it's pretty typical for the breed to have intimidating names. He's just so happy and he loves everyone. I was thinking maybe I could go with Disney names since I have a LiLo. His personality totally fits Kronk of the emperor's new groove, but the name is a bit weird haha. Another name I'm toying with is 'Dodger.'

He is cute. I like the name Dodger. What is wrong with his leg?
Oh! He busted the growth plate in his right elbow, it's healed but he's lost some range of motion so he still limps. He's not painful at all, he plays really hard with the best of 'em.

Oh he's beautiful! He does look like a pit mix to me. Possibly
pit bull/mastiff? I saw a dog a week ago that was pit bull/mastiff and looked exactly like your new addition. Congratulations on your new addition. He is very lucky to have found you.

I was thinking some mastiff in their too... but he's only about 43lbs right now... and 9mos so I don't know that he'll get bigger/broader but we'll see I guess. He's been such a good kid. I'm hoping I can get his Canine Good Citizenship and maybe do some hospital work or something... I think he'd be good for it and it would be fun.
