PeTA doesn't like the name "Pet Shop Boys"

Remember the Pet Shop Boys? PeTA does and asked them to change their name. This is by the way PeTA Europe, who I thought were nto quite as loony tunes as the nutsos in the US.

The band has turned down a request from an animal rights group to rename itself the Rescue Shelter Boys.

The organization, the People for the Ethical Treatment for Animals (PETA), sent a letter to Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe acknowledging that its request, at first blush, might appear "bizarre."

How is that Ben & Jerry's ice cream made from human breast milk coming along I wonder?

I love the Pet Shop boys song "West end Girls" so I am glad they won't change their name!!

Not to offend our vegetarians on here.......

But, if PeTA would agree to change their name to People Eating Tasty Animals, I think the Pet Shop Boys should go ahead and change their name to the one requested.

If anyone still supports PETA after this one, then they should check into the nearest insane hospital!

Good one Nial - I'll second your motion on their name change, but would still want Pet Shop Boys to keep theirs.

I gave up on PETA way back during their campaign aimed at college students: "Drink beer instead of milk to protect the dignity of cows"

Bah - PETA doesn't expect any of these bizarre requests to happen. It's just a very clever (and cheap!) way to keep their name in the media.

Unfortunately they do believe in some of their bizarre requests, I have helped wash red paint off a no kill shelter before that they disagreed with

Good grief, the whole politically correct speech thing is getting out of hand. There is even some things going on now about what to call the current flu. Israel termed it Mexican flu because swine flu was offensive to the Jewish and Muslim population and Thailand for some reason also called it Mexican flu. Mexico was offended and has even formally complained through diplomatic channels. I would think these governments would have something better to do.

I think we should call it H1N1 or A H1N1. Not only is that more accurate, it's not as catchy as the title swine flu.
