Hi everyone. I could use some vibes/prayers for Aussie's ultrasound tomorrow. We're scanning her to rule out bladder cancer. I know that bladder cancer is very rare in cats, but I just have a bad feeling about it which is why I insisted on the scan. She's had an enormous amount of blood and blood clots in her urine over the last month. Antibiotics seem to help initially, but it comes right back. She's also losing her appetite and getting her to eat has become a daily battle.

I promise to post back once I get the results. Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone!
Aussie is at the vet now and I'll go pick her up in a couple of hours. They don't know yet if I'll have the results by the end of the day or Monday. It all depends on the internist and how soon they can get the images over to him/her. I'll post back as soon as I know anything.

We made it home and she's doing well. They had to gas her but that was expected since she's such a monster at the vets.
I'm doubtful I'll hear anything tonight, especially given that it's the Friday before Easter. Now we just have to get through the waiting game.

Waiting for a vets report on a serious matter can feel like it takes forever.

Sorry you have to wait for the results.
Yes, but the wait is worth it when you have a specialist read it.

Thanks everyone for the support. She's feeling well on the new antibiotic so we're planning to have a nice, restful weekend.

What antibiotic is she on?
I hope it helps.
My vet is a specialist too, but just not in imaging. And I am fortunate that they do the ultrasound at her clinic, but the images are just sent to the internist for formal interpretation. My vet runs a cat-only hospital and I love it! It really helps their stress levels when they don't have dogs barking at them or in the background.

She's now on amoxicillin twice a day. She was on Zeniquin for two weeks about a month ago and also did great, but a week after the dose was stopped the clots came right back so it seems the antibiotics just mask the problem for a while. She didn't have any bacteria in her urine so it doesn't really make much sense as to why the antibiotics help, but they do at least in the short term. She also gets Cosequin twice a day as well, but I can't vouch yet if that is helping her as it's only been a month.

Hopefully the ultrasound will get us on the right direction as far as a treatment plan. I'm not one who likes to just try things until we find something that works. I think you get to the root of the problem, then you treat. I know there's a possibility that we still won't find anything and we will have to just treat as we can, but my fingers are crossed that we have a definitive answer in one way or another.
