Hi

I recently switched my 9 year old cat from Iams senior to Hills science plan adult. Since the switch she's been throwing up quite a lot. Vet says nothing wrong with her. Should I just persevere and see if she gets used to it or switch her back to Iams?

Thanks
Tom

Why did you switch? Did you switch suddenly or did you do a gradual intro of the new food? It's possible that the new food is causing her to have a gassy tummy (& therefore upchuck the food), she could be allergic to something in the new food, or her system may not be able to tolerate the new food. I'd go back to the old food. If she handles it fine, then I'd say there's something in the new food that just doesn't set well with her system.

I switched because the Vet recommended Hills science plan as being generally better for her health. Also when she stayed at the cattery recently she was given Hills and was fine on it. Also because it's softer than Iams it should be better for her teeth (she's had a couple out already).

Yes, well, most vets are pretty clueless when it comes to food & nutrition. Go read about SD foods in the nutrition forum for more info.

Are you feeding canned or dry, or both?

Thanks for your advice so far. Both dry and wet.
