Last fall, I caught a glimpse of a furry black kitten near the entrance to the industrial park where our distribution center is located. I stopped and tried to see where it went, but I couldn't find it. A few months later, I saw what I assume was the same cat, mostly grown, going down into a sewer entrance in the same area. Again, I stopped to try to see where it had gone, but it disappeared as soon as I stopped.
This week, I saw what, again, I assume is the same cat, killed by the side of the highway at the front of the industrial park. Such a short, sad life for what was a beautiful animal.
