Ok all you kitty experts!!! lol How long before you can pick up the new babies? I want to get them kind of tame before we send them out to other ppl. I just found Zeb's litter, there's about 7 or 8 there, and they are so cute!!! They were just born about 1 1/2 -2 weeks ago, and Pepe's I haven't found yet, but they were born about a week earlier. If I can get some pics, I'll post them. But I really want to pick them up and cuddle them!!! Can I do that, or should I wait? I don't want Zeb to move them, as she has them in some bales in our neighbors yard, and she seems quite comfortable there with them. Also any ideas on how to get kitties to come out? Pepe has hers underneath the floor boards at the old sheds, and she won't come out. I've put kitty treats out there for her, and she does come out to eat food, I just haven't seen her for a day or two. Any ideas? Thanks. I'll check back in later. Bye!

These are ferals, right? Typically, the answer is 12 weeks that kitten should stay with Mom, but if she's feral you really should try to let the kits get to know you (people) as soon as you can. The problem is that feral Moms don't like you to mess with their babies, and if she feels like they are being threatened she will move them. If you have a good relationship with Zeb, she should bring the kittens to you (for food) when they are old enough to start eating solids. In the meantime, leave a good quality kitten food out for her fairly near to where she is keeping the babies. She needs all the nutrition she can get!

You're an
for helping these kitties!

After looking at the Feral board, and reading about the differences btwn strays and ferals, I think that they are NOT ferals. It's true that noises will make them run off, or if they know you are going to be making noises, they'll come, but they know that we won't hurt them, and they come regularly to the door for food and water, and attention and kitty treats. And they always come back for more attention or whatever.

I realize now, after reading my post, that it may sound like Pepe is a feral, but she's the friendliest cat, and loves to be petted, and talked to. Maybe she's just sleeping, or protecting her babies. Where she has them there are 2 huge german shepherd dogs, so maybe she thinks that if she stays there, the dogs won't bother the babies....not that they can get to the babies, but who knows what goes on in a cats head??? lol

Anyways, I'll keep an eye on them, and hopefully I'll be able to tame them a bit and get some pics of them....and give them to good homes! They are so cute!!!

Yeah, I got a home for 2 females come July when they are old enough to leave Mama (Zeb). I am also going to give 2 to my sister as she is moving to a farm in July and needs some cats, although she doesn't want cats (she isn't a cat lover at all!!!
), but she kind of needs them for the mice. I am going to go out tomorrow and see if I can't find Pepe's crew, and how many she has, to figure out how many ppl "need" a cat, whether they realize it or not!!! Wish me luck!!

Ok, I can't go looking for the cats today b/c it is raining out
but my mom told me that Zeb moved her babies
Guess I'll just have to be patient and see where they come out of hiding. Why do cats move their babies when ppl know where they are? I'm just curious, b/c they always seem to move them, even if you are helping them out. Any ideas??
