Flea medication bought online

I was at my vet today and they were warning people about buying flea meds on line. They were saying that sometimes meds bought on-line are manufactured outside of the US and aren't as effective. They also aren't controlled by the FDA.

I just thought I would pass along the info incase anyone is interested. I've been going to this vet for 15+ years and they are very honest/trustworthy. I also figured out the cost per dose from them versus the internet and they are actually cheaper so I know they aren't just trying to make a buck.

Just something to consider the next time you have to buy flea meds.

Most of us older members, with the exception of the members that have been involved with ferals and rescue for many years and have knowledge and experience behind them, prefer buying meds from vets. We know we are getting the real deal, not knock-offs, fakes or dangerous meds. Thank you for posting that info from your vet.

Some of us have been around long enough to remember people coming here to say their cat was very sick or had died from OTC flea meds. It was heartbreaking to read that in order to save a few dollars they lost their beloved pet.
