I've been having this problem for a while now and it's driving me NUTS!! It feels like there is a bunch of mucus in the back of my throat. I can't cough it up so I usually just try and swallow it (ew) but it keeps coming back! As far as I know, I am not allergic to anything. I don't have a cold and am not coughing, so I'm assuming this is post nasal drip. If anyone has ever had this, or anything like it, I'd like to hear about your experiences and what I can do to make it go away.

Over the river and through the woods...
My sinuses are constantly draining down the back of my throat, to the point that I gag and get the dry heaves in the morning sometimes. I basically can't live without sinus medication. I used to take Advil cold and Sinus, but found out recently that Advil is giving my ulcers, so now it's tylenol sinus or sudafed. My doctor also prescribed a nose spray. He gave me a sample then wrote the presciption...the sample really did help, but once it was gone and I went to get the prescription filled the spray was $50 even with the plan! Regular, it was around $250!

Talk to your doctor, every one reacts differently to medication. I know it's miserable. Hope you find some answers soon.

I've had it since I was 8 - a bad sinus infection and bronchitis left to long apparently did a little damage.

One thing that helps a lot is to be careful how much dairy you eat, anything with sugar in it will thicken mucus, and in general just drink plenty of water to help keep it thinned out.

I've had it for four or five years now. It's the bane of my existence, especially when the seasons are changing.

Have you started any new medications recently or had a change in their dosages? Just a thought as some can cause increased mucus production and build up.

Yum.
Ewww- just kidding!

Nope. I take Allegra D and Singulair, dosages haven't changed since I started on them a few years ago.

I use a saline mist in my nostrils and gargle with either lemon juice/baking soda water, or else a weak apple cider vinegar gargle. Sometimes I gargle with ginger water.
I also get best results when taking Sudafed/guifansen combo, too.

I get sinus drainage, especially when I'm laying down. then I wake up coughing and gagging. Fun for everyone. I really think I'm allergic to Thai as it started around the time we got him and he sleeps with us everynight. I have to take Musinex before I go to bed. It has really helped.

I always had chronic post nasal drip and no medication worked. So I invested in a Netti pot and some netti pot salt (you can get them from health food stores I got mine at Whole Foods for like $20) and I haven't had a sinus infection in almost 2 years now!
