I was feeding the cats tonight, standing over the dishwasher. I couldn't understand why it went on (thought DH may have set the timer, though we never use it). Then I saw BJ's big, Maine Coon paw on the button...

DH was just in the fridge, and BJ was trying to get in. DH said, "God help us if he learns how to open the fridge door!" I said, "It's not the fridge I'm worried about--how about the electric can-opener???"

Now, if I could only get him to do the laundry...

Neither have I!

Selene used to play with the large-buttoned speakerphone at Mom's. which was in my bedroom. She discovered the speaker button by accident; but afer awhile, I actually saw her searching with her paw to find it, then she really pressed it hard--I swear she knew what she was doing (she liked to the hear the recording that came on, I think). Problem was, she'd do this in the middle of the night, when I was asleep, and it scared the heck out of me!

I also think she may have accidentally dialed either "0" or 911 once. The police showed up, saying that they had recieved a 911 call from that phone #! Only Mom and I were there, and we didn't dial it, but Selene was around...and we hadn't used any of the phones (that phone was a separate phone #, and I mostly used it for the dial-up for my pc).

LOL! Too funny!
Wouldn't it be awesome if we could teach our cats to do chores?
The only help Maggie gives me with dishes is licking on them after I've put them in the dishwasher

Well, now that I think of it...Bast (or maybe quiet, timid Tama?) DID try to help clean today...

Helped by ripping up an entire roll of paper towels that I left on my desk...

I bet it'd be easy to re-enforce the dishwashing behavior with some treats, lol. You may have help with the chores yet!

They don't do the dishes, but they try to turn the doorknob on one of the doors that lead outside. I think they're tired of being kissed on and hugged on and they're trying to escape, lol!

Zane tries to 'help' me make the bed. He's very 'help'ful.

NOT!

I tell him he's a better supervisor than he is an assistant!

My cats always test the sheets for me when they're fresh out of the wash. Thor especially rolls around on them like a big dog rolling in the dirt!

One of my uncles has a cat that will turn out the lights when it leaves a room! He used to put those little milk jug circles around the lightswitch so the cat would jump up and hit it, and over time he's done that whenever he leaves a room. LOL.

Nice and fun stories from you all. Only if Binks could do her own litter box. On second thought, it would not be a litter box then?

yep, our cats are great "cleaning" dishes. We have to be careful what we leave out!

MargeCat - funny story! I would have liked to see the officers faces when they discovered a cat was dialing 911!
