I am 99 % sure Simba is with a neighbor of Hope's. I have a contact who lives very near to where Hope worked and he has been speaking with her co-workers. One of them helped Hope's family remove her belongings.

They are fairly certain that a particular lady in the building has Simba. We have a name to contact and we have the contact information for Hope's landlord.

Fingers crossed we can get some confirmation that Simba is safe.

Hope's co-worker also said it would have been extremely difficult for Simba to actually get out of the building even if he had managed to get out of the apt. There are several series of doors and it is highly unlikely that all were open at the same time.

Just a little news on a positive front.

Oh, that's exciting - I hope that's what happened, can't wait to hear!

I hope that's what happened and that he's been well cared for this whole time. So, what happens if this woman DOES INDEED have Simba? Do a home inspection? Would Nial take him back. I have a feeling that if this is true, the woman WANTS Simba.

I would hope that the woman who has Simba loves him and he doesn't need to be taken away from her. If he is loved and cherished why rock the boat? Why would you want to do a home inspection? Thats invading on someones privacy. This isn't the cat gestapo here. If she loves him, leave well enough alone and find peace in the fact that he is loved and well taken care of. This is what I pray for that Simba has a loving forever home.

I need to clear a few things up. First, the person who is local and has been speaking to these people only agreed to do so under certain terms. The first was knowing what our specific goals were. I told him it was to find out if Simba was in a home safe, on the street or had been taken to a shelter. If he was in a home with people who wanted him he was to stay there.

This is not a case of a stolen pet and we legally have no right to even be searching for him.

In all honesty, what has been done so far has been very personally invasive to several people and we are really lucky to have the information we do. These people were Hope's dear friends in real life and they are deeply grieving her passing. They may not be "cat" people, but they knew Hope loved her cats and thus have been very forth coming with a complete stranger.

To give some reassurances, from the information I have it seems the person who most likely has Simba is someone Hope knew as a friend as well as being her neighbor.

As I posted earlier, fingers crossed we are able to confirm Simba is with this person. There are no guarantees we will be able to get any more information that we have right now.

If Simba is being cared for in a home that wants and loves him, then I see no need for any further action. I just want to know that he's safe.

Simba was from a breeder other than Nial. He did offer to take him, but isn't in the same position as he was with Angel. As long as we know that Simba is safe and in a good home, there are no other actions required. It was the lack of knowledge that haunted us all.

You have done a great job making sure Simba is safe. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Simba has a forever loving home. Hope will be able to rest in peace knowing all her cats are safe and being cared for.

When I told my husband what happened to Hope, and how people here were trying to locate Simba, he said something that really made me stop and think. He said if I ever died and complete strangers from TCS came by trying to do something with my cats, he'd kick them out the door. He said we were invading the privacy of people that are in deep grief, and that we should leave them alone.

I opened this thread to have people watch shelters for Simba, if by chance he did get out and someone took him there. It makes my heart glad to hear that we have a community of cat lovers that watch out for their own, and I would hope that if by chance one day both DH and I die, that people here would be watching shelters for mine.

I applaud the folks that have found the courage to approach people in a very difficult situation, and I trust that they are using the appropriate respect in doing so. There is a very fine line that we're walking in intervening in this situation. While we all want to help, we need to be careful.

I agree. I think he's with the neighbour that apparantly has her dog, and if this is the case i'm happy knowing that.

I can see what he's saying Amy, only in Hopes case she was alone, but i agree that if people are being called up by complete strangers asking questions they need to be very careful. I for one would have them for harrassment.

It was different when i was in contact with Hope's brother because he posted his number, and his sister Robyn gave me hers.
