She always sleeps with us. Sometimes she sleeps all night, sometimes she bugs us. Last night I woke up, I was sleeping on my back and had my arms at my side and she was cuddled up on my shoulder. I thought it was so sweet, she's not much of a cuddler really. Well, we were laying there and then all of a sudden she bit me on the neck! Pretty hard, but it didn't break the skin. WHAT was the about and how do I make her not do it?

She probably got startled and bit instinctively... If she has never done this before, and is not aggressive normally, I wouldn't worry about it...

She's not aggressive, but she has bitten, never hard enough to break skin and never aggressively, just playfully I think. I don't think she was startled. I don't know what it was. I'm not mad or anything. We never get mad at her, she doesn't know.

If she was asleep and you moved, she may have acted reflexively, especially if she was dreaming. I have a scar on my face from when Zane had a nightmare on my lap. (I tell people I was attacked by a puma.)

My former feral (male) will do that when he's overstimulated. She may have just not liked the night time petting, and got worked up until she lashed out at you. She might have been giving warning signs all along but you didn't see them since it was dark. I've learned to "read" Felix and know when to back off (most of the time) to avoid being grabbed!

I wasn't petting her. I don't give her attention at night because I'm trying to discourage her from waking us up at night. We were literally just laying there.
