My mom had to send her kitty of 18 years to the bridge Wednesday. She had Friskie since I was 11 years old. She was such a sweet and loving girl and so spoiled! She was a momma's girl for sure. I remember when I started driving Friskie would watch out the front window of my mom's house and wait for me to get home. She continued to do this for my younger brother when he started driving. She wanted to make sure we got home safely.
About four years ago she was diagnosed with renal failure and was expected to live a good 2 to 3 years more. She beat the odds and made 4 1/2 years! About a week ago she stopped eating and lost even more weight. It was obvious it was time yet it was still so hard for my mom to make the decision. We took her to the vet Wednesday evening and I stayed with her until her last moment. It was a difficult thing for me to do. I've never had to put a pet down but I was amazed at how quickly it happened and how peaceful it was. I know we did the right thing for but my heart still aches.
Friskie is now at peace and no longer suffering. I miss you and love you Friskie!!
