not just another day at the office, huh?

I like the packing peanut idea - but the mess might actually be very annoying to everyone else though.

That's so cool that 1 - your coworkers like you that much and 2 - that you work in such a great place ... people sign and everything!

That was truly excellent!! And I like your packing peanuts idea, too.

The best April Fool's prank I ever witnessed requires that the workspace to be "dressed" have a door that closes: fill it, floor to ceiling with balloons.

A well-loved member of faculty (now retired) at the college where I work was the victim of this one. His Advisee Group pulled something every year, and really outdid themselves that year. I was happy to provide entry and "supervision" after Jim had left for the day and close up when they were done.
That one got wonderful reactions, too.

That is brilliant! I love that idea - I will have to pass it on to my friends at work - maybe they can do it to the manager there! He is always giving people a hard time and this would be the perfect revenge!

That was so funny Pam.

We did the balloon thing to our big boss once, filled his whole office.

In our dept. we use a lot of paper and we use a hole puncher that punches 2 holes in the top of medical records etc to put in files. One of our team leaders is always emptying the little holes into peoples pockets, gloves etc. ( it's like confetti) we got her back once by putting a bunch of it into her closed umbrella....her son had a game that day and I guess at the field when she opened the umbrella it was quite funny. lol

What a GREAT prank! And Pamela, they must truly love you to go to such lengths to torment you.
It sounds like a great place to work!

Here's a good one. I've never actually done this, but had it all planned out for a high school senior prank which we were too lazy to execute.

Fill someone else's cube (or, better, the boss' office) with styrofoam packing peanuts. For a cube like yours, you'd have to cover the entrance with a sheet of clear plastic or plexiglass. For environmental and other reasons, it's best to use the rice-based water soluble variety (easier to dispose of, among other things).

The company I work for is a spin off of the old AT&T and the lab facilities are in our building. There are a lot of pack rats there also. So we replaced all of the equipment in our young whippersnapper's cube (he's 25) with really old equipment. His monitor became an old terminal with keyboard. No mouse to be found. The phone was replaced with an old rotary dial. Stacks of old computer reports covered his desk. We pasted pictures of the AMC gremlin. It was like a museum piece.

How long did it take you to unwrap everything, Pamela? What did you do with the foil?

Thanks Pami!! It's nice to know that I was missed.
I hopefully will be on board more often now.

I've seen the foil the cubical prank fairly often online. Another popular one is post-it notes.
Yes, if I do the packing peanuts, I will be sure to get the biodegradable ones. HMMM>>> That's an idea about post-it notes.. Only question is- would that get very expensive since I'd have to go through A LOT of post-it notes????????? I'd have to compare costs since I don't want to spend a lot on my "revenge".

I agree- it's NICE to know that I am loved that much.
I do enjoy working here a lot even with all the STRESS. It's funny- I moved here thinking I'd have less stress and wouldn't have to bring work home as much as I had to at my old job. WRONG!! LOL.

I agree -my friends/coworkers are great. It's weird cuz this has been happening to me most of my life- it seems whereever I go, people likes to gang up and torment me.
My teasing doesn't help, I'm sure.
I called my old co workers on April 1st through videophone to show them my cube and I was "complaining" about why people would do this to me and one co worker looked at me and said, "But Pamela, you're such a EASY TARGET and FUN to tease! That's one thing we really miss here."

It took me about an hour to unwrap everything (including lipstick, remote, individual papers, pictures, electrical cords, etc!) and I made a BIG ball out of the foil. I plan to leave the ball in a corner of my desk and use it as "art".
And to remind me of this.
I will try to take a picture of the ball and post it here soon.

Oh, FYI- I now have some new nicknames (I have zillions of nicknames and I don't like most of them). Some people are now calling me "Tin Foil Pamela" or "TFP". YUK!!

Took me half a day to put everything back the way they should be. They also unplugged my keyboard and mouse so it took me a few minutes to figure out why my mouse or keyboard weren't working.

My first week at work here - a group of friends made sure to park their cars REAL CLOSE to my car so I couldn't even open the driver or passenger doors. I had to open the hatchback door in the back and crawl in through there while wearing a skirt!
What a great way to welcome me back to Utah AND welcome me to my new job!

For some reason, people always love to gang up on me and pick on me.. Gee.. I wonder why!

I have one idea for revenge but am hoping I can do it for real cheap..

I was thinking of getting packing peanuts (A LOT) and put saran wrap to block the entrance to my friends' cubes (remember there were approximately 10 to 15 people helping but I'll focus on the main players meaning about 5) then pour packing peanuts into their cubes. This would mean if they pull the saran wrap away from the entrance to their cubes, the packing peanuts will spill over into the hallway AND stick to their clothes.... It'll be hard for them to clean up.. HEHE.. I just have to figure out where to find a lot for a good deal, find a way to bring all of it to where I work and do it without being caught (probably would have to do it one evening..

What do you guys think???

Have you thought of inlisting the help of friends or family or TCS'ers to mail you all their packing peanuts or maybe you could do paper shreds! empty everyones shredders and fill their cubicals that way! And shreds would be recyclable afterwards too! Then you could shred your newspapers, and all kinds of things, old magazines, real cheap! I bet you could get tons of stuff from people! Keep us posted on the revenge, I'm excited to see how it turns out. Oh yeah, and if you fill theirs, make sure to start with the drawers and stuff too!
