Is it safe to use human eye wash for cats? I was advised to use saline solution for contact lenses but bought the eye wash instead. My kitty's eye seems worse after the wash eye.

when I had to wash out Ally's eyes multiple times a day due to an infection (and then give her topical cream on her eyes), I was told that standard human eye-wash (the ones where the only ingredient is purified water) are perfectly safe for cats. The vet said something to the effect of, "Listen, I can sell you something you don't need in addition to the cream that you do need, or you can go to Walgreens and just get it for 99 cents."

I just went downstairs to check exactly what it is I bought. It's Walgreens brand, "Soothing Eye Wash". The only ingredient is purified water.

Also, get some gauze. Hold your cat's eyes open one at a time and spray some of the eye wash (water) in there, then wipe off the excess with the eye closed.

I'm assuming this is for an eye infection and you're putting in drops afterwards.
