We took him today because the FIP was progressing quickly and he was starting to breathe funny and whine. We didn't want to wait until he was critical as I didn't want him to suffer. We loved him very much and miss him. He was such a good kitty. Only 9 1/2 months.

The poor baby, such a sweet boy. He was a love when I met him at the show.
May he rest in peace.

What a tragedy, hope you're doing ok.

You did everything you could for him. I applaud you for not waiting until he was really suffering... sometimes it's hard not too hold on for too long. My thoughts are with you during this hard time... it's so hard to lose them so young but you gave him the best home ever.

I'm so sorry about little Mons. He was so young.
You did what was right and gave him a lot of love and happiness. Rest in Peace, sweet boy. You are now free from all pain and illness.

Do you have a picture of him? I would love to see one.

I'll have to upload some pics later.

thanks for all the comments. I've had a hard time reasoning with myself that I didn't rush things. He was such a precious little baby. My mom will be alone again at night (he became her sleeping buddy).

What a gorgeous little tiger stripes! I am so sad that he had to leave you so soon; bless you for doing the difficult, but right thing, that he didn't have to suffer the ravages to his body that FIP would cause - you showed him the truest love of all. Godspeed over RB, little Mons- run quickly to HopeHacker and bask in her tender care until the rest of your family reunites with you again, this time never to be parted

I'm so so sorry. We lost our first Smudge to FIP when he was 6 months old. It's really hard sometimes for me to see this happening to other people, so I'm sorry I didn't really help when he was sick.

thanks all again for your comments. It helps to come here and see all the support. We all loved him, but he was my mom's favorite cat. I try to assure her that it was for the best to take Mons in and we didn't want him to suffer like Grandma did a few years back. Grandma's cancer caused her to fill with fluid much like Mons' FIP was doing to him, but we wanted to spare Mons from the same pain that she had in the end.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
His life may have been too short, but he was very loved, knew it, and that makes every day count.
Of course, knowing that doesn't make losing him so young hurt any less.

I'm so sorry.

Rest in peace, little Mons.
