I've made this and its great! If you like wine as much as I do this will only serve about 3 people so the recipe will need to be increased.
1 Bottle (750 ml) red wine (Zinfandel or Pinot Noir)
1/4 c sugar
1/2 c brandy
1/2 c Cointreau
1 each orange, lemon and lime thinly sliced.
1 apple cored and thinly sliced
12 oz seltzer water
mix sugar and 2 T wine in microwave safe container and cook for about 1 minute to dissolve sugar. Pour remaining wine in a pitcher and stir in syrup, brandy and Cointreau.
Add fruit and stir to combine. All to marinate several hours or overnight covered in the refrigerator. Before serving add seltzer and sit to combine.
I also have a similar recipe:
Stir 2 1/4 cups water and 2 1/4 c sugar in a medium saucepan until sugar is dissolved over med-high heat. Cool. Combine 6-750 ml bottles red wine, 2 1/4 cups brandy, 1 1/2 c triple sec or Cointreau, 1 1/2 c oj and 3 cups of the simple sugar in a large container. Add 6 sliced apples, 4 sliced peaches and 4 lemons. Refrigerate until cold 3 hours or up to 1 day. Ladle sangria and fruit into pitcher for serving. Serve over ice.
