I'm very excited to be here! I am a first time kitty owner, and I'm loving it. I adopted my baby boy from the local shelter a month ago, and I hope he loves it here as much as I love having him!
So, about my kitty-- he is about 5 months and 3.5 lbs now, still pretty small. The shelter labeled him a domestic mediumhair. He's mostly white with black and brown markings. After a long debate about what to name him, I decided on Beau for English and "Siu Bo" for Cantonese-Chinese (it means "precious", and it's a pun for both languages
). Because he's my handsome beau and so precious!
Here's a pic of him when I first got him:
I even started a YouTube channel for him because I love to catch him on camera: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=...ty&view=videos
It's also easier to videotape him than it is to take a still photo of him, as with most cats! That's why I have more photos of him sleeping than doing anything else because he moves too fast for the camera. And he's so funny when he sleeps, so I have a whole album just with his sleeping poses.
He goes through all of these positions in his sleep usually. Since he likes to sleep stretched out so elongated, he doesn't like his cat bed.
I also have lots more videos, some which are like cat product reviews (CatIt fountain, various toys) since they show him using the toys.
And something about me: My name really is Cat, short for Catherine. My friends dubbed me Cat and it stuck. Sometimes they call me MommaCat because I'm the oldest, and I just have a mothering personality (I let them get away with all this because we've been a group of friends since elementary school).
Anyway, I definitely have some questions to ask here about cat care since this is my first cat, although I've always wanted a cat-- it's just the people I've lived with didn't. I did a lot of research before I adopted Beau, regarding food and hygiene and a lot of other stuff, and that's how I came upon TheCatSite.
Oh, and I'm talking my hubby into getting a 2nd kitty to keep Beau company. Hubby's not exactly a cat lover, but I've caught him talking to and playing with Beau on occasion. And he's even building a cat tree for Beau, but I guess that had more to do with the cost of a store-bought one versus DIY
Still, I love both the men in my life, and I hope to have more additions to our family!
LOL I hope my intro isn't too long. I just love talking about my kitty.
