Warning: Gross stuff!
So I started to give Bugsy Greenies treats, as I hear they are great to prevent tartar. He loves it, Lucky hates it, so she remains on Temptations.
Anyways - the feeding guideline for his weight is 8-10 pcs 2x/day. I was giving him 12 pcs 2x/day, and on the second day, last night, he had awful diarrhea. I thought he was peeing - but then the smell took over the house, and I realized he he had watery diarrhea. I inspected his butt (witch was dripping green poop on the consistence of water), cleaned him, and proceeded to make some home made pedialyte to prevent dehydration. Since last night I have been mixing about 3 Tbsp of it with his food, and so far so good.
As far as I know, that was the only incident he had, I think all got out then.
So, I was wondering - has anybody here had diarrhea problems with Greenies? Is this just a matter of re-introducing it slowly? Could these extra 2pcs /day made all this damage?

Poor Bugsy, I have no idea what greenies are but I'm sending him some vibes for this diarrhea to stop..I know he's been through quite some issues lately

yep, my Dante loves Greenies - but, when he gets just a few too many, soft stool. In fact, that happened this morning!

I usually just drop the number down, and make sure he's not eating Dharma's as well as his own. He's usually ok at 4 per serving, twice a day, but you'll find the happy balance.

I've used them as treats but never more than 4-6 per day and even then not every day.

It will be interesting to see how Bijou does this week, I've given him some of the "freebie" food I got at the cat show last week.

Mine have vomited from them (yay, dark green vomit on my beige carpet) when one or the other sneaks from his brother's pile. No diarrhea though. I give mine both 3 a day. More than that and I seem to find the evidence in my carpet the next morning.

I think I got traumatized from it... Bugsy got REALLY bad diarrhea, that took him a good 4 days to get over it... I Love the fact that he really chews it, and that it is very recommended for tartar control... I will wait for him to get his balance completely back before I give it to him again.

My Dante is a big boy - about 12-13 pounds and not fat. My girl only gets 4 greenies all day, but she's a little 6 pounder. funny, never seems to disrupt her system. My guy likes them so much I used them to lure him back when he's door dashed. The great outdoors has nothing on greenies!
