I have been feeding my cats Science Diet Indoor Cat food ever since they moved up from Science Diet Kitten food. I feed them 24/7 without any weight issues.

DW just came back from Sams, a store she goes to a lot and they do not have this food and she wondered if it would be OK to try the cats out on IAMS Original with Chicken/avec poulet PROACTIVE HEALTH. Persi is 3 years old and Alley is 5 years old.

Anyway, the bag is sitting in front of me and DW asked me if it would be OK and I said I don't know but that before we open it I would check with my friends on TCS and soon have some opinions.

I am asking!

Personally SD and Iams are not good foods any more. And with dry food, you have to do a gradual change over - or your cats will throw up, etc.

We feed Royal Canin for Urinary since Charlie had the UTI (dry), but in the canend foods we feed - Wellness, Avoderm, Iams, Natural Balance, Blue Spa, Max Cat and the flavors vary between beef, chicken, lamb, venison, duck. I don't get any fish flavor foods like salmon or tuna.

why are you looking at changing??

Truly, I do not like either .... Goldenkitty gave some good recommendations of mid priced foods

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunatelly we ran out of cat food and DW started feeding the new. I feel so stupid in going back and reading this because even when I moved them up from kitten food to adult food I did it over a two week period so I did know about the gradual change over. And you were right, one or both of them has been throwing up and we could not figure out why, so I went back and read your note and sure enough, that must be why. Well, they have been on the new food a few days now and I may well just take your tip and move them onto another food as you suggest in which case I will do the gradual phase in!
