Everything went well today. The medication worked. His sight had returned this morning. The Opthamologist operated on both eyes. He said it went perfectly. He said Jim was a very lucky man. If the Er doctor hadn't been so pushy, Jim would have lost his sight in his left eye. I have to take Jim back to the city again tomorrow. He has steroid drops, but he can stop all the other medication. This is a genetic problem, so I will be calling his 3 brothers and his sister so they can get checked. THANK-YOU all for your prayers and vibes.

Oh my goodness...how scary for both of you. I'm so relived to hear everything went well, though.

Plenty of good healing that he's feeling back to normal in no time.

I am glad that his surgery went well, and I am happier that his sight returned.

Great news! I'm so happy things seem to have turned out ok. Good idea to let Jim's siblings know about the possibility of it cropping up with them.

Check up today went perfectly. We go back in a week. Jim hasn't had the terrible headache since the laser surgery was done. The doctor told us to keep all of the medication, if the headache or blurriness comes back. Then JIm has to take it immediatley and call him. I think I will finally be able to get some sleep tonight.

How scary for BOTH of you!! So glad that everything worked out and that the medical system worked as it should.

That sounds an awful lot like glaucoma.... with the build up of ocular pressure and the loss of sight. My mom has that...and has had to have surgeries to place drains in her eyes to keep the pressure from crushing the ocular nerve and has to take all kinds of drops.

Whew! I glad the surgery went well and hopefully no more problems with his vision.

I would write the ER doc and his supervisors a letter for being very good with the diagnoses.

I had some vision problems over 25 yrs ago and had a great doctor do an immediate referral to prevent further problems so I know whats its like to have the doctor being persistant for treatment.

I bought a Thank -you card for the ER Doctor. He phoned all night to get the help Jim needed. I am so thankful for all he did.

I'm only just seeing this, and I'm glad you got a pushy ER doc. As soon as I started reading, memories flooded back from 30-odd years ago when in very similar circumstances my Dad was diagnosed with acute glaucoma, and in surgery before his head stopped spinning. That was another case of the right pushy doc being in ER at the right time.

I'm glad this turned out the way it did.
