I've had my cat literally since birth. Depp is a year and a half old, de-sexed, male cat. He's gladly been an indoor/outdoor cat since birth. Recently though a small orange Tom kitten has been following him around. Depp does nothing. The kitten follows him around dilligently, waits for him on my porch when he's inside, and plays with him when he is out.

The only reason I find this odd is because cat's (atleast what I have been told,) are solitary, territorial mammels, so why doesn't my cat show aggression toward the other?

The best theory I've heard so far is that for some reason, my male cat, feels the need to be maternal toward this kitten.

My boyfriend, on the other hand, is trying to convince me that my cat has homosexual tendancies (I would love him anyways.)

any thoughts?

Thanks so much for your time!

It depends on the cat - there is nothing weird about it... Some love company (like my Lucky), and some don't. Any chance you can bring the TOm in, since he is already friendly with your kitty? You would provide him safety and care, while your kitty would have a great mate!

They are just friends, many cats like other cats. As the kitten grows it might change since they are only meeting outdoors, kitten might decide it's his territory and fights could happen especially if kitten remains undesexed.

If he's not owned, I'd take him in for company to your cat since they already like each other.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. My parents have 4 male cats, and the youngest two are like a mother and child. lol

When my parents just had 3, my dad found a little tiny kitten that had been run over, and they adopted him (and of course took him straight to the vet and got him all fixed up and stuff). Well, Henry (the youngest before the kitten was found) basically adopted the kitten (The Beast). So, now my mom says that she has three cats, and Henry has 1 cat of his own. LOL She always signs everyone's birthday cards (yes, she's that much of a cat lady lol) with "Stanley, The Dude, Henry, and Henry's cat, The Best. LMAO
