Hello, Misty is about 5 years old, during the night she will carry around a cat toy or even sometimes one of the dogs big stuffed toys and while she has the toy in her mouth she meows real loud and looks around like she is calling her kittens or something. I have had her for a little over a year, I don't know if she ever had any kittens in the past.

Its a little funny and strange at the same time. Do any of you out there have a female that does this kind of thing also?

Yeah, Molly does it sometimes, and she definately had kittens.

Sometimes it's not a "kitten" though, it's a toy, or a "kill".

I'm not sure why she started, but now she knows it gets her attention - so she'll do it if she's hungry, in particular.

They're oddball creatures.

Hi, I should have worded it different, I didn't know how to say it so you could understand what I meant. You are right she carries the toy around like its a "kill" and is calling her kittens to "come and eat"

Chip & Pixel both do this - one male, the other female - neither were ever pregnant

On a somewhat related note, when Angel was younger she would take mouse toys and prop them on the edge of the water dish but never dropped them in the water like she was teaching them how and where to drink.

I love it!

My cat Daisy once adopted a soft ball with a Mickey Mouse face on it. It was so bizarre! She loved it & carried it everywhere. when the ball bit the dust, she never adopted another fake kitten again, although I really wish she would!

I had a female who did this too. She was really cute because she would bring me her toys all night long and lay them beside me and go bring me another. She would make her crying noise while she was bringing them to me.

She was a very special girl.

That's adorable.

Talin used do something similar, but he did drown them.

Though he still likes to splash water all over the floor, so that could be related.

I can't use those water dishes that store water in a container so the water runs in by itself as they drink it, Cozmo tips the top part over so the water runs all over.

Bijou sometimes brings his favourite toys in and puts them on our bed in the middle of the night. I believe he wants to play but since hubby and I both sleep the sleep of the dead, it's not likely we'd wake to play with him. Sometimes he carries his wand with the feather attachment through the whole house and up on the bed. I've woken to find it laying across the bottom of the bed.

My mom's old cat used to do that in her youth. She had a stuffed Dalmatian puppy from Disneyland and a hot pink glove that had lost its mate. It was hilarious.
