I think so. They sound too much alike. I do like Rusty as a name. Still like Sunny or Sonny.
Archie. Jack. also like Casey. They say cats respond more to names ending in a long e sound.

Aww look at that sweet precious face. He looks so skinny.

I have a Kiko and Tino and they definitely know the difference in their names.

Hey! I just noticed that the photo of his twin sister no longer works.

I think that means she got adopted today!

ETA: Nevermind.
Still works. I was wrong.

I voted for Rusty but a lot of the names on list will fit that little guy well.

I think you might get more confused than the cats. (Ollie . . Ally . . Ollie . .
uh . . . hey you!
) I think the names are more for us humans anyway. Only one of my five cats responds to her name (and it doesn't end in an "e" sound). She doesn't do what I ask her to, but at least she looks at me when I call her name. The others basically ignore me unless they want me to do something for them.

hmmm.... when I call out Ally, Ally looks at me. When I call out Ollie.... nothing.

Maybe they can hear the subtle difference? Or is it just coincidence?

He's a beautiful boy. I love the red tabbies.

Names. Just to be different, what about using a brand name for a power tool for his name. Something like, Mcculloch (chain saws), Ryobi (drills) or Rockwell (power saws)? I really like Rockwell, it could be shortened to Rocky.

Still thinking about a name.

Whoever he is though, he's got to go to the vet. He's sneezing, coughing, and barely eating. The eating probably will take care of itself, but the sneezing and coughing need to be addressed ASAP. I think it's a URI from the humane society. Poor little guy is a trooper just like Ally. Sick, hungry, probably in pain from surgery, and yet wants to play with me and is purring a lot.

Yes yes yes to the vet visit. If he is congested and cannot smell he is not likely to eat much if at all.

Yeah, if you're a tool dude that's a really cool choice, IMO. I like Ryobi.

Didn't the humane society give him something for the URI? Poor little kitty. It's good that he's separated from Ally. My cats outside are all sick and I'm paranoid about Cammy getting sick.

All they gave me to give him was lysine (an amino-acid) to supposedly help fight against or recover from a URI (I can't remember which).

I didn't think it would be enough and now he's on an antibiotic.

As for the name, I have to admit that when I made that list, I was leaning towards Charlie or Jeffrey. I added Ollie in that list as I was just thinking of names that end with a "ee" sound. I really wasn't even considering it, but now after spending time with him for the last 24 hours, he seems like an Ollie for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with so many people liking it.

As long as Ally and Ollie don't get confused with each other's names, he's Ollie.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I liked Sonny and Rusty too, but for whatever reason, he seems like an Ollie to me. If they get confused though, I'll change it to Sonny (he's orange and his eyes have this interesting coloration that looks like a sunburst so it fits).

Yeah. He is too skinny. I'm working on it.

I've been spending lots of time trying to coax him to eat. I found today that he seems to prefer eating wet food off of my finger than out of the bowl. So I guess I'll just sit with him and feed him until he feels comfortable to eat out of a bowl or off of a plate.

I also stopped the purina one b/c he just isn't eating it at all and am going to try Wellness to see if he will eat that for dry food. Ally loves Wellness kitten dry food. Maybe he will too.
