Apparently, if a child in the family is alluding to having been abused by a family member, a way to avoid the issue is to take her to the family's Baptist Preacher and allow him to "beat the truth" out of her with a stick.

SICK! That's is just SICK! I hope he gets many years in jail. For his reaction, it makes me wonder if he himself also has done his share of child abuse.

I hope that in 2 years the girl files a civil suit against that "Man of God"....for Pete's sake, if he "was in over his head" about dealing with the allegations of sexual abuse, then why, since being a preacher is a professional position, didn't he seek the advice and counseling of another professional, preferably a woman skilled in dealing with sexual abuse of children.
And "boo - hisssss" to the judge who made the penalties so light
We had a similar case, with one of our local churches defending beatings...it was a tough case, but our judge was tougher, and when facing jail, the parents decided that they'd try alternate parenting. At the 1 year review, the child's scholastic and social performance was greatly improved, so the CPS workers were proved right. some parents

I can't help but wonder if this "pastor" was getting a bit of sexual gratification from spanking this child. My first thought was that he was the sexual abuser.. with behavior like that it would not have surprised me.
