For those that don't know we just adopted a new boy, Disaronno.

He's a DLH, seal point (looks like doll-faced Himi, in my inexpert opinion,
)

He got wet on the ride home and his tail's gone all flat.

Is there a way to puff it up without giving him a full bath (since he's new, I'd prefer not to torment him more than mat-removal will.)

Here's pics for reference:

It's not matted... it's just... flat.

He is gorgeous
with Princess (who has a gloriously fluffy tail) whenever she gets it wet it fluffs back up from her grooming it.

I would leave it alone. Di will groom it and fluff it back up all on his own.

Dryer sheets contain chemicals and I would not want them on my cat. The cat would ingest them when it grooms itself and could become ill.

Looks like you got yourself a cute ragdoll, and not a DLH... He is precious! I think that his tail hair is just too long to be all fluffy.

Well, he has no papers and the shelter had him as a Siamese (Really, guys?) so... yeah. He could be a raggy or such, I don't know.

Try sprinkling the tail with cornstarch baby powder then then comb backwards - the powder will absorb the grease (looks a bit greasy to me rather then just wet).

That's a good idea, hadn't thought of that... I tried a brush and it just made it a bit stringier. .... May have to buy cornstarch, though.
