About a year ago, Catholic priests and brothers became my neighbors. The first 3 months, they were pretty quiet except for the singing during their EARLY morning mass. But now I have already complained twice due to the noise. The first time was when they had guests in their swimming pool on a weeknight. One guest was a very loud LADY who kept on laughing and shouting until my complaint at 11:30 pm. Then a month ago they had a birthday bash with a live band. There were no guests, it was only the resident priests and brothers. Sometimes I wonder what was the clapping and cheering all about when the band leader announced they would play some "disco" music.
Oh well...

Well they don't seem to fit in the sterotypical role of Catholic priests now do they?

Oh, my!
I would think that having priests and monks for neighbors would be very peaceful. Doesn't sound like any kind of peaceful order of monks that I've heard about!

How odd.

We once had a friend who lived across the street from a Catholic church, and next door to a bar. She said the priest every Sunday came out of church after the mass, went in the bar, and got so drunk the patrons had to help him back to the church's residence.

So...do these priests belong to the Order of the Perpetual Party, or what?

That's what i was thinking?.

Are they polite to you Maria after you've said something, and is there anywhere you can complain to about them?

I'd be asking them why a womans there at such a late hour as well?

I would not have thought having priests and monks next door would be a such a problem! Guess none of them has taken a vow of silence, huh?

I might drop an innocent mention to the dioceses... and be like "Gosh, guys, I wish I were a priest so I could party with these guys!"

Wow, your name is Maria? I'd call them up and say, "Uh, this is Maria. Yeah, that one. I hear you guys are partying down there and bothering the neighbors. I want you each to do 5 Aves and cut it out! Don't make me come down there!"

OMG this is soo true!! Since I am a church musican on weekends I always got to go to the annunal convetion of pastorl musicians and i Have to say I HAVE NEVER seen a bigger group of hard core partiers then the Catholic Priests in fact I would say that the only people who partied HARDER then the priests were the monks and the brothers!! They litereally drank 3 bars compeltely dry in ONE night! AND they shattered a glass coffee table in the hotel lobby when they were dancing around with the table cloth as a cape and trip and fell right into it. I couldn't believe it. Totally changed my view of priests.
I can totally see your situtaion happening as for a vow of silence they take neither a vow of silence NOR a vow of poverty.

I know you have indoor/outdoor cats, do your cats ever go visit them for food handouts at these parties?
