Nuh uh...might give me away!
So, last October I started seeing a new doctor for my thyroid (I have hypothyroidism). I had not only gained quite a bit of weight over that year, but I was still gaining even though I was only eating 1600 calories a day (I'm 26, btw).

Well, my thyroid symptoms are gone, and by following the dietary guidelines from my doctor, I am now...down 28 pounds!!! This is since October of 2008 (that's 5 months)!!!!!!

I haven't seen numbers this low since mid-2007!!!! I feel like myself again, and even though I'm still technically 2lbs from my goal weight, I'm in my goal jean-size: 9/10!!!!

Would I love to continue losing weight? SURE! But I think I'll be just fine if I'm stuck here forever.
Not to mention my energy levels are up, and I feel healthier than I have in a long time.

I think I should send my Doctor a Thank You card.

Over the river and through the woods...
Congrats sweetie!! It's amazing how much the thyroid can screw you up when it's not working right. I'm so glad you got it figured out and are feeling more like yourself now. Lord, I wish I could get down to 9/10 jeans!

I've been through test after test for cramps and low energy, but everything has come back negative, so I finally had my doctor refer me to the ONLY thyroid doctor in the area. I need to send her a $100 check that she will "hold" until I show up for my appointment, but she won't set an appointment until she gets that check.

^ Have you had your other adrenals tested? If not, ask the doctor about them.

To emrldsky, don't ignore these either. Make sure they're checked out and make sure they keep an eye on your T4 and T3 levels (TSH is useless when you're on a replacement med) so that you can stay within the best range for you. If you feel good you can accomplish a lot - with warm weather coming back maybe you can get out and walk? Or if you live in a city take trips out on the weekends to hike? Much better than a gym.

My doctor tests both T4 and T3, and I'm on generic Synthroid right now as well as a T3 (45mcg). I'm going to talk to him about getting me on Armour, now that it's in production again. I'm not sure if what I would need is available yet, but I'd like to at least talk to him about it.

And I think now that the weather is warmer, DH and I might walk to Target for those small trips where we just need a few things.
That's a mile total, not including how much we'd walk in the store.

A lot of people do better on Armour - I hope you can switch to it if possible and that the switch goes well.
And look at the bright side of walking to stores, if you can't carry it back you won't buy it! Sounds like one way to prevent impulse buys.

Take care of yourself and congrats on getting back to a healthy you.
