I know this is not a rare problem, but any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated! One of my cats has been to the vets many times over the last week and has to go in for a surgery today or tomorrow. The vet told me to keep him seperated from my other cat, as they may not get along. This had never been a problem before, but this time, my female cat will have nothing to do with the male cat who has been to the vets. I am keeping them separated, but if they do see each other, she hisses at him and gets very aggressive. I just want to know how long this generally goes on, as I would like to have them both be able to roam the house again together soon! Has anyone else experienced this...and how long does it go on? Are there ways that I can "encourage" them to "make up" without making it worse??

The female wants to avoid the male because he smells like TEV (the evil vet). The best thing to do is to use one of Hissy's tricks (she is The One Who Knows All about cats). Put a small amount of vanilla on your hands and then rub both cats. That way both cats only smell vanilla rather than smelling TEV. You will likely find that they quickly become friends again once they no longer smell that yucky smell!

Good luck!

Actually you don't rub the vanilla extract on your hands- you just take a small amount and dab it underneath their chin and on the base of their tail. If you wear a certain perfume, you can spray the perfume in the air, thrust your hands into the mist, rub your hands together and then rub you cat's to make them smell like you.

I figured if I put lots of sticky stuff in their fur, the wouldn't shed as much!
hmmmm....a vanilla scented cat who doesn't shed! I think I might start a trend.
