I was wondering what things other people do to make a kitten's first show a pleasant experience?
It's not my first show, I showed my two 1.5 year old cats last year but we stopped because they started to not like it after a few shows... Now I have two kittens I am going to enter in a HHP show this weekend and I want to do what I can to help them enjoy it. I have some Feliway and will bring their bed from home so they will have the familiar smells but I am not sure what else I can do.

I have been told to bring their fav toys and blankets.
I do not really know anything yet.
I am going by what my mentors are telling me.
I will be bringing a bed also and have been told to get Cleo used to the cage.

I just provide mine with a bunch of toys, a nice bed or blanket to curl up in and some good food and treats.

Hubby usually carries the cat around in the show hall while looking at the vendors and lets them see/hear all the noise at the beginning. I've never really had anyone be upset much. They usually hide if its a loud noise but then look to see what is going on.

My Spot had her very first show at age 13 months just last weekend. On the judging table she was excellent but in the benching area...oh my! Mind you, I was clerking BOTH days and I had my protegee show them/her for me.

IMHO, if the cat has been bred for show, trained for show nothing should go wrong except for the cat's own temperament.

What's MOST important is that you, the owner/exhibitor remain calm at all times - that way your baby will remain calm too!
