My cat eats really fast then sometimes throws up a little when he's done. He gets fed twice a day, and throws up probably every other day. I have tried giving him less food, but he still throws up. Maybe I should give him a tiny little bit at a time? What should I do?

Maybe elevate the food dish or put golf balls, etc in the dish so that the kitty has to eat slower.

Or see if the food is something that is upsetting the cat. What is kitty eating? The resident food gurus might know if it contains something that could upset kitty tummies.

How old is he, and is this wet, or dry food?
One thing that you can do is raising the plate - that will slow down his eating a bit.

I would suggest smaller more frequent meals. Or wet food cuz I'm assuming this is dry.

My Harley sometimes gets over exciting and doesn't chew and will throw food back up. He always chews his kibble even though they're small. Jack never chews and never throws up, so every cat is different.

Perhaps trying a kibble with a larger size would be beneficial, to encourage chewing?

Yes, its dry food. He eats Special Kitty cat food, the gourmet blend, he's been on it his whole life. This throwing up thing started a few months ago, and has been slowly getting more frequent, little by little.

Are you aware of all the recalls they had in 2007, 2008, and 2009 due to salmonella?
One of the symptoms to watch for infection with Salmonella is nausea/throwing up.
Here is a link with more information on the latest recall, for dry Special Kitties food:
http://www.petcare.mars.com/
If I were you, I would get away from it ASAP.

In an effort to prevent the transmission of Salmonella from pets to family members and care givers, the FDA recommends that everyone follow appropriate pet food handling guidelines when feeding their pets. A list of safe pet food handling tips can be found at: http://www.fda.gov/consumer/updates/...ips080307.html

I was aware Special Kitty is a cheaper brand, but that worked for us since we do not have an unlimited income. I know it's not the best health-wise. But it could be time for a change. Can anyone recomend a healthier food, that won't break the bank? We're definitely going to try elevating his food, and see if that helps. Thanks for the recomendation!

probably the best value for the money [assuming you have a petsmart nearby] would be Authority.
wal-mart has a good one, called Maxximum, but i've found it to be pricier than the Authority [at least, locally for me].
