My one year old male (Quigley) is having some stool issues. Ever since I've had him (which has been about 4 months now), he's had persistent URI's. I've had him on 3 different kinds of antibiotics and he recently finished a round on Thursday. I noticed today that his stool is still a bit loose (definitely smelly) and his butt is leaky. His stool has been loose in the past but mostly when he's sick so I chalked it up to his URI's. I have him eating EVO wet twice a day (mixed with a little bit of 9 Lives) and Science Diet Indoor dry (I leave this out). Should I be worried about this? Is it the food? I've read in some other posts that people say that EVO is "rich" but I'm not sure if that just pertains to the dry food. Oh...and he's FeLV+. Help!

Well antibiotics themselves can cause loose stools, that's a common side effect. While they kill the bacteria they're supposed to, they also knock out the 'good bacteria' in the body and this is often manifested by diarrhea. There's something you can give to combat this, hopefully someone will respond with the particular name of it (bene-something?)...I believe it's like lactobacillus or acidophilus; given to help restore the 'healthy bacteria' balance. If he's been on 3 rounds of antibiotics, that could likely be the cause.

What type of antibiotic did he just finish?

He just finished a dosage of Azithromycin (14 days). He seems to be doing much better now besides the poop issue. He still eats fine, plays hard and always makes it to the litter box.

I've already done a lot of research on FeLV.
