If that's the case, there is no way to feed raw and kibbles period.
What are the risks? As I sad before, I can feed him raw 2 hours after he eats kibbles, and 2 hours before he eats kibbles again. What would be the problems, and what do I need to watch for, to notice if he is having trouble with this arrangement?
I really want to feed him some raw because of his teeth... He was able to chew today on bigger pieces too - like quarter sized, and for the way he chews on it, I can tell it's going to make a difference...
Is beef ok to feed as well, or should I stick with chicken?

The reason why I am taking him to the vet tomorrow is because he is digging into his ears a bit too much, and I am afraid he has an infection.
I can only afford to have a dental when I get a job. If the vet says tomorrow that it is a matter of doing or seriously jeopardizing his health, then yes, I will do it. Otherwise it will need to wait.
Thats good Bugsy is going tomorrow!!! Ill be looking for an update

In the yahoo raw forum there are mixed feelings about feeding raw and kibble, some believe the info pasted above that there is no major difference, I'm not sure what to believe. My boys get kibble in the AM long after raw and raw is a good 10 hours after kibble--about I mean 1/8 of a cup of kibble.

Many put raw and kibble in the same bowl to transition picky cats!

Ultimately I guess its your decision--research the web and make a choice perhaps join the yahoo group rawcats

You could feed any protein really chicken, turkey, beef, pork, venison, rabbit, quail, mouse, rat, goat, duck, squirrel--I'm currently feeding the first five I listed. I'm working on adding duck, rabbit, squirrel and quail to that list as I can get all for free, if my hunters would shoot some for me...

**As a sidenote, switching my boys 4 weeks ago was the best decision I've made, they are like 8 week old kittens. Harley's played for the first time since we've had him, and he plays constantly, Jack is bouncing off the walls. They are slim, muscular. Their fur is thicker and even softer!

Yeah - he is digging into his ears, and I know it is not ear mites, because I really can't see anything in it... He digs into it, then shakes his head with his ears down... I don't want to run the risk of him having an infection... While in there, I will ask her to check her teeth as well, just in case...

I really can not switch him completely to raw, as my line of work (hopefully I will get a job on the same industry, which I love) requires a lot of traveling, and I won't be comfortable with a sitter feeding him raw - when I go out of town he will need to be on kibble only.
I do want to give him raw everyday though - I think it will help his teeth and his health in general.
Lucky, unfortunately, won't eat ANYTHING but kibbles - thank God at least she love Orijen, which I feel it is a great food - she is also a big water drinker... I will continue to offer her, and if she eats one day.... all the better!

Let's see what the vet says tomorrow - his eyes are good, and so is the roof of his mouth. I will leave it to the vet, and If I can wait at all, I will.
The situation here is simple: If he has a dental, I don't have $$ to eat. So.....

Post date until I find a job in this economy.... hum..... I don't think so

Anyways, this is really putting the horse in front of the carriage - I will cross that bridge when I get there. I will leave it to my vet to tell me what's going on, and go from there. Believe me, I will go without food if push comes to shove - but only IF push comes to shove.

Thanks everybody for all the advice - I have learned quite a bit!
I decided what I am going to do: I will continue to feed him his kibbles, and give him chicken necks 3 times a week, for the dental cleaning benefits. I will not go into raw at this time, as I can not stop feeding the kibbles, and don't want to jeopardize his health...
Thanks again for guiding me into this solution!!

Two of my kitties eat kibble (TOTW) breakkie and raw dinners. They've done it for 9 mos, and we've not had an issue.

Beef is fine, too!

Earth, man.
Hope all is going well with the chicken breast. I have been supplementing raw into my cat's diet for two years. I generally feed two meals a day, when I add raw, I feed it as one of two meals for the day. No need to add anything else to that meal. Keep us posted!
