Hello everyone,

I have a long hair cat that, I think, needs a hair trim. Since summer is here I've noticed he's been licking himself more. So to make his life a bit easier and cooler, I'm looking for any ideas on how to trim my kittie's fur. I'm wondering if any of you have seen a comb/shear combination tool for long hair cats or dogs? Or something where I can brush and trim the hair at the sametime type of a tool???

Sincerely,
Rosie

I haven't seen anything like that, but you could take kitty to a groomer and have the hair trimmed. Kitty's skin is very thin and can be cut quite easily so I don't risk it, I always go to the groomers for their "Lion" cuts. I raise Persians and with the heat up to 100 plus already this spring... They seem to appreciate the trim and love to lay on the cool floors.

You can also try brushing the kitty out to remove the winter hair and thin out the coat.

We have a long hair cat and have been taking him to the groomer for a bath, nailtrim and have his belly shaved. Well, for the summer here were my instructions for the groomer:
Do not trim head, legs or tail.
Shave under arms and legs, belly and from base of tail down 3 inches,
Trim hair on body to 1 inch.
BK was mad for a week
. He looks great and is alot cooler and no more hairballs.
We have the hair trimed on his backside to keep the poop from sticking to his fur. In between hair cuts, I wrap BK in a towel and trim the hair myself on his backside.
