Tonight, I went to light up a cigarette, and Diva actually smacked it out of my hand...then starts rubbing her head on my arm to get petted...

I take it like this:
this is a strong sign not to smoke around your kitty.

Actually, I suspect she just sees anything in your hands as intended to be a toy for her.

She wants you to quit. Even if you start by not smoking around her, you will smoke less.

Smart Diva! She's trying to save your life...and hers too! Probably she thought it was a toy, but, seriously, second hand smoke is dangerous to pets, even if you're not as concerned about yourself. And, besides, think of the wonderful cat toys you could buy when you're not buying cigarettes anymore!

Hi,

scent plays a vital role for cats- maybe she doesn't like the smell of the cigarette smoke?

I'm a non- smoker and don't like the smell of stale smoke in my hair after an evening out, your kitty may think the same

She doesn't want Her Human to get cancer or emphysima (sp.?) or heart disease. She wants you to be around for a long, long time to pet her and feed her and play with her and tell her she's a pretty kitty.

Good girl Diva!
Tell your Human that smoking is really bad for health!

Seriously though, she probably notices the smell and finds it offensive
