Buying gifts

When I attend the numerous bridal and baby showers and weddings I usually budget how much I want to spend for each event.

So my question is I bought the bridal shower and wedding gift for my niece yesterday. The item I got for her wedding however was on sale and I had a coupon for any additional $10 off my total purchase.

So while the orginal price was my budgeted amount I actually paid much less due to the sale and coupon.

Would you just go with that gift realizing the savings or continue to actually spend the amount budgeted??

That would depend on my mood! I would normally put the extra money towards more gift items for the person. But, if it was a tight month or it was someone I didn't know very well, I'd pocket the savings.

Personally, I would pocket it. She doesn't know it was on sale or that you had a coupon so what's the harm? If you put thought into it, that is what matters. And even if she did know about the sale and coupon, with the economy the way it is I'm sure she would understand.

If you're feeling really bad about it, maybe get a house warming present for them after they come back from their honeymoon.

I'd consider myself a fabulous shopper and not worry about buying something else.

Use the amount you saved to buy yourself something, even if it's just lunch. Or maybe pamper yourself and go and get your nails done
